Solvent Purification and Removal Systems
Many organic and organometallic reactions require solvents that are free of water and, sometimes, free of oxygen. Traditionally, solvent purification has been accomplished by using a solvent still to reflux the solvent in the presence of sodium or potassium metal and benzophenone in an inert atmosphere. Unfortunately, this method can lead to fire if the chemicals spill or there is a spark in the vicinity.
Innovative Technology's Solvent Purification/Removal system removes this danger by purifying organic solvents without the use of alkali metals, hydride reagents, or a heat source. Instead, Innovative Technology's system uses activated alumina and copper catalyst to removes moisture and oxygen from HPLC grade solvents.
Innovative Technology offers three types of solvent purification and removal systems that can be integrated with your glovebox:
Internal carbon filter systems
Inline solvent trap systems
Regenerable solvent column system
These systems differ in their absorption capacity. An internal carbon filter system scrubs the smallest amount of vapor before needing to be replaced. An inline solvent trap system scrubs a larger volume of vapor, and is easily replaceable. The regenerable solvent column traps the highest volume of vapor, and regenerates its own carbon so it does not have to be replaced as often. When your column does need to be replaced, you can purchase new columns directly from Innovative Technology.
