Innovative Technology designs, manufactures, and installs Isolation Barriers and Gloveboxes for use in the Pharmaceutical Industry. They have a wide variety of applications including:
This particular unit was used for the packaging of powders. The tee shaped chamber between the two boxes offered the end user access to either module. The doors were pneumatically driven and interlocked. The right hand box has a refrigeration unit on top (shroud removed in this picture) that keeps the temperature stable at plus or minus 1 degree Celsius. This box is used for storage. The left box is running an ultra dry atmosphere utilizing a column of molecular sieve, a moisture analyzer and a bypass circuit. The dry gas is circulated through HEPA filters. This box, as the right hand one has radius corners to ease clean up and wash down. The entire front window is hinged and assisted by gas pistons into the raised position. This function allows the user to bring large pieces of equipment into and out of the box that would not fit through the chamber.
The process involved starting from air, purging the main chamber down to a specific level of moisture and then placing product in the chamber through the outside door. Once the outside door was closed a chamber purging cycle was initiated and a red light was illuminated. Once the chamber was purged the red light would go off and a green light would turn on. This would signal to the operator that the inside door could be opened. If either door was opened prior to the completion of the cycle an alarm would sound and the cycle would have to be started from the beginning. If moisture went higher than the safety level the alarm would also sound. This system met class 1 division 1 groups C and D and had radius corners for ease of cleaning and a sloped floor to a drain for spill containment.
